On May 6, two of our graduating ASNS students, Mari Ogino and Michael Fernandez, were honored at this year's Hawaii American Chemical Society Awards Banquet for earning Outstanding Organic Chemistry Students of the Year from Leeward CC.
The annual awards banquet honors the most outstanding chemistry students from high schools, colleges and universities throughout our state. Many of our previous award recipients from Leeward are currently attending medical, pharmacy and graduate schools around the country.
Mari Ogino is graduating with the ASNS in Life Science and will be attending UH Manoa majoring in Biological Engineering. This summer she was selected for a highly competitive electrical engineering internship at HECO.
Michael Fernandez is graduating with the ASNS in Life Science and will be attending UH Manoa majoring in Biochemistry. This summer he will be performing biomedical research in Cameroon, Africa as part of a JABSOM international research program.
Brad Ashburn and Jeff Tibbitt represented Leeward CC at the awards banquet this year which was held at Hawaii Pacific University.
